It’s a Simplicity 2274 Quilted Duffel Bag

This project took me longer than expected but because I knew it was a project I wanted to do a good job on, I worked on it a little at a time each day rather than trying to hurry through it.

I loved the online reviews & suggested modifications for this pattern & I've listed a few other blog posts in regards to this pattern below. So I implemented a few modifications on my duffel bag. I added an additional exterior pocket between the handles as it only calls for one on the front side. I added an a zipper to each pleated, side pocket rather than just one. I did use jute webbing for my handles, but next time will consider making my own handles from Kona Snow fabric and a coordinating fabric as the jute webbing was tough to work with in my opinion. I did decide to do a patchwork design but it really took way too long to start the bag by doing so. Next time I'll keep it simpler with less patchwork and less quilting. I used fusible batting and will opt for fusible interfacing next time as well. A little more stabilization with firmer interfacing.

This is really my first time working with a pattern!! Yes, it really is! So I tried my best to understand the process and work along with each of the numbered directions, but I found myself hopping around back and forth a bit to get the desired look I wanted.

I purchased my jute webbing and fabric at Hobby Lobby.
